Why, when you go to comment on someone's blog, are you always asked to "choose an identity"? Does this mean that Blogger is existentialist?

That is a very good observation. It is rather existentialist.
Maybe we can interpret it orthodoxly: "Here is your opportunity to be the self you ought to be, or to plummet back into some miserable-anything-else."
I think it's just existentialist.
